SR&D Scholz Rockman X100 Headphone Amp & Power Adapter - Serviced NEW Capacitors
These units are now over 30 years old and no longer being manufactured.
Electrolytic capacitors dry out over time as they have a limited lifespan of 20-30 years before drying out and or leaking. All (11) Electrolytic Capacitors in X100 have been replaced with Nichicon branded quality capacitors (see photo showing old capacitors that were discarded). (4) capacitors were replaced in power adapter. Adapter housing was cut open and reclosed.
All switches and jacks were cleaned and lubricated with Deoxit. Solder joints checked and resoldered as necessary.
Unit was functionally tested using batteries and with included external adapter (batteries not included).
I have been an electronics technician since 1983. Rockman unit and power adapter have been fully serviced and ready to use for years to come without needing costly refurbishing.
It is recommended not to store unit with batteries if not being used for a period of time. I have seen what battery corrosion does and it is not pretty!
