Description
Set of 2 Gorham Sterling Silver Candle Sticks Hand Chased in the Maintenon Pattern 11 1/8”hPresented is an Impressive set of 2 Neoclassical Gorham Candle Sticks in the beautiful Maintenon pattern. This is a finely crafted had chased & hammered made by Gorham silver company well known for their quality and excellent designs in the items they produced. This pattern can still be collected as a set and makes for an impressive table setting when completed. They have a terrific grape and leaf pattern with removable bobeche as well as an interesting period mixed letter monogram. They are in beautiful condition. One has a minor dent in the post. The other has a slight swell in the bottom in the center next to the mark but it has no wobble and only a very slight lean; please see pictures. They both have a scratched serial number on the bottom next to mark and some light scratches from gentle use. These items are weighted so while they are made from a heavy Gauge of silver, a large amount of the weight is from the filler. I have included a pictures of my research on this maker in the photos above however this sale is for two candlesticks only. This is a beautiful pattern and a great set for the most elegant of tables or settings for the silver collector.
I have an interesting assortment of items listed so please look at my other auctions.
