was founded
in 1896
and occupies 31,610 acres , of which 6,700 acres of the reservatio
n
are within
Palm
Springs
city limits. The tribe is the city's largest collective landowner, and
owns Indian Canyons, located southwest of Palm Springs,  listed on
the
National
Register of Historic Places
, and
also own land in the
Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument
.
