19thC ANTIQUE CHINESE
22.5" H BLUE/WHITE
PORCELAIN
BALUSTER JAR
22.5" to top of jar
25.5" to top of lid
mid-19th Century Chinese blue
and white porcelain baluster jar,
the cross hatched border near
the bottom of the jar between
the bands of circles being the
tell-tale sign that it is not 18th
century or older
hand painted decoration includes
phoenixes, bats, and no that's
not Betty Boop peering at you
from behind the bushes,  it's
a bat -- one of several good luck
bats escorting the jar to its
new home
original lid replaced at some point
with wooden version, otherwise
jar is in very good condition,
showing only minor signs of
superficial wear and age
