    Description

    Book Description:
1965 Civil War Edition II, Register of Graduates and Former Cadets, 1802-1965, of the United States Military Academy.
    Chicago:
    N. E.  Donnelley, 1965, 794 pages, including index of advertisers. First Edition.  Signed, presentation copy to “Dr. and Mrs. Halsey, Gracious Visitors to the U. S. Mil. Academy” from Egon A. Weiss, Librarian, USMA. Although the title says “Civil War Edition II,” this volume is complete.  The Register is issued every year, and the first Civil War Edition was issued in 1861 to commemorate the 100
    th
anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War, and this Edition, with four years of updated information, was a celebration of the war’s end.  It contains basic information about every graduate and cadet of the USMA from its beginnings in 1862 to the present time (1965). There is other information included such as a summary index of previous registers, USMA class officers, an essay on Appomattox, West Point Societies, permanent professors, and much, much more.  While this copy is ex libris, the only indication is a label on the spine.  Published on newsprint, this volume is, nevertheless, in very good condition with tight binding and clean pages, with no tears or folds.
